Tues late afternoon we found out that Nathan cultured MRSA. We didn't get the antibiotic's until Thursday though because they were called in on Wed & Pat went to pick them up, but there was a dosage error on one, and insurance delay on another. So he's only been on this a little while. Still, even in just these few days of it, it has all but ripped a hole though his poor little bum. Just diarrhea non stop. I don't know how on earth he'll be able to do this the whole 14 days with out going back into c-diff. Just over the weekend he goes so much he can barely make it in to the bathroom. Pat & I are doing all we can to push extra fluids into him so he doesn't dehydrate.
I did notice the other day & more today that his rash on the back of his neck wasn't as red as it had been, and few less bumps, however it was also now on the backs of his arms. Not as heavy as the part on his neck had been but you can definitely feel tons of tiny bumps. Almost like hives, but those are not red on his arms. Over all his cough is still bad, his spirits are still good but this evening he had a fever when he was getting ready for bed. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better.
I am hoping to hear from his pediatrician on the cultured that were done at TMC on Tues night. Also hopefully the fungal culture should be back in the week and we're also expecting to hear from his genetics' doctor.
We had a huge blessing as far as people helping to spread the word about Nathan & Bella's story on the CNN iReport so that's been pretty amazing. Over 3,000 people have seen it and 2K have shared it!
That is incredible...I am trying to work on it but my head hurts so much. I only had two migraines this week so that was a little better at least!
The U of A's Interfraternity Council has been incredibly helpful in sending out a ton of email blasts on our behalf about his story. Also we've been having help from ASU & NAU's Greek Life as well. I think that it's such a blessing how people tend to put down any rivals on team etc or anything when it comes to helping a little boy feel and know he is very loved and special. The U of A men were very kind and asked what Nathan had originally asked for before he had said the thing about just wanting friends, and they got him the Pokémon games he'd originally wanted, plus a Nintendo PS3D or something like that... That was just too much!! Wow. Plus they said Nathan could play it now and didn't have to wait for Christmas. So this whole weekend, it was a Pokémon fest at our house. I was really glad too, took his mind of the Christmas party being canceled.
Also on Friday evening my sweet friend Sherry had done one of her amazing Costo runs & sent over a ton of supplies so we should be stocked up to Feb for sure!! What a blessing. God is so good.
We were so sad to hear of the shooting that happened in CO. I felt so sad for the families...all of them. The victims and also just the ones who saw it but weren't physically injured, but in their emotion and memories of that playing in their heads won't go away. Pray please for those families and also for the family of the shooter.
